Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 4th district since 2007, recently posted a series of tweets raising concerns about government censorship and law enforcement actions related to online speech.
On July 30, 2025, Jordan referenced recent developments in the United Kingdom and comments from London’s top police officer: "Just a couple days after the UK’s demand to Big Tech, London’s top police officer warned Americans that he would target them with prosecution for online posts he found offensive—no matter what country they were posted from."
In another tweet on the same day, Jordan stated: "The Committee continues to receive documents showing censorship of conservatives and true information from around the world. But above all else, governments always want to censor criticism of the government. More to come…"
He also commented on perceived inconsistencies in law enforcement priorities: "You might get locked up while violent criminals walk free. And you’ll get censored if you point out the double standard."
Jordan has represented Ohio's 4th District in Congress since succeeding Mike Oxley in 2007. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of both the Ohio House of Representatives (1995–2000) and the Ohio Senate (2001–2006). Born in Troy, Ohio in 1964, Jordan is currently 59 years old and resides in Urbana. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Juris Doctor from Capital University.
