Rep. Jim Jordan, a U.S. Congressman representing Ohio’s 4th district since 2007, published a series of posts on July 30, 2025, alleging attempts by UK authorities to suppress online debate about immigration and criticism of the government during recent unrest.
In his first post, Jordan stated, "As UK citizens become increasingly frustrated by a system weaponized against them, UK authorities wanted Big Tech to censor discussions about immigration and ‘narratives about the police and a ‘two-tier’ system.’" (July 30, 2025).
He followed up with another message: " THE UK CENSORSHIP FILES, PART 2
UK GOVERNMENT TRIED TO CENSOR CRITICISM OF ITSELF AND DEBATE ABOUT IMMIGRATION DURING LARGE-SCALE RIOTS IN AUGUST 2024.
Thread:" (July 30, 2025).
Jordan also commented on legal disparities in the United Kingdom: "In recent years, UK citizens have become increasingly fed up with the ‘double standard’ in the UK:
Mean tweets get you a longer prison sentence than many violent offenses." (July 30, 2025).
Jim Jordan has served in Congress since replacing Mike Oxley in 2007. Prior to his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of both the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. Born in Troy, Ohio in 1964 and currently residing in Urbana, Jordan holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Capital University.
