Rep. Jim Jordan, U.S. Congressman representing Ohio’s 4th district since 2007, posted a series of tweets on July 30, 2025, raising concerns about the British government's handling of information requests and online discussions related to asylum seekers and migration policy.

In his first tweet, Jordan wrote: "One British citizen wanted to know where the government was housing asylum seekers at UK taxpayers’ expense. So, he filed a Freedom of Information request. The British government denied his request." (July 30, 2025).

He continued in a second post: "The UK government also wanted to silence discussions about Europe’s mass migration policies. One popular account noted that certain parts of England now look like another country." (July 30, 2025).

Jordan further claimed censorship in his third tweet: "Then, when he posted online about the denial, the British government told platforms to censor him. https://t.co/4PWb1HYyoh" (July 30, 2025).

Jim Jordan has been a member of Congress since replacing Mike Oxley in 2007 and previously served in both chambers of the Ohio legislature. Born in Troy, Ohio in 1964 and currently residing in Urbana, Jordan holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Capital University.

The issue raised by Jordan highlights ongoing debates over transparency and free speech concerning migration policy in Europe and actions taken by governments regarding information dissemination.
