Village of New Bremen issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.
Final agreement documentation has been submitted to ODNR for the New Bremen Bike Path Capital Improvement Project. This project was part of House Bill 529 for the 2019-2020 State Capital Budget Bill, with re-appropriation funding approved for the current biennium. Thank you to Senator Matt Huffman and Representative Susan Manchester for their support on this project and the re-appropriation of funding.
Final approval to release the funding is to occur on November 23rd, by the controlling board of the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management. Funding is expected to be available to the Village of New Bremen by mid-December. The New Bremen Bike Path project includes 3 bike path segments:
1. Safe crossing on SR274 near Klee Avenue
2. An extension off of the north end of the Miami Erie Canal Path
3. The current path that ends at the Y will be extended to the Walnut Street sidewalk. Thank you to the Auglaize Mercer Family YMCA for working with the Village on this segment of the bike path.
All of these segments are in effort to eventually have the ability to use bike path/routes around New Bremen.
