State Representative Angie King from Celina is advocating for a legislative change aimed at reducing the tax burden on Ohioans. The proposed legislation seeks to eliminate state income tax on overtime pay, potentially allowing workers to retain more of their earnings.

The bill, introduced by State Representatives Nick Santucci and Tex Fischer, aims to provide financial relief for hourly employees. "This will ease the tax burden on hourly employees, putting more of their hard-earned overtime pay directly into their pockets," said King. She further explained that this measure could encourage employees to work additional hours, thereby increasing the available workforce without necessitating further recruitment or training efforts.

Currently, the legislation is pending assignment to a House committee for further consideration.
