Jim Jordan comments on government shutdown negotiations and party positions

Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 4th district since 2007, posted a series of statements on October 1, 2025, regarding the potential for a government shutdown and the positions of various political groups.

In his first tweet at 19:39 UTC, Jordan wrote: "President Trump didn’t want a shutdown.

Speaker Johnson didn’t want a shutdown.

Senate Republicans didn’t want a shutdown.

The Republican Study Committee didn’t want a shutdown.

The House Freedom Caucus didn’t want a shutdown.

Main Street Republicans didn’t want a".

Later that evening at 21:03 UTC, he posted another message consisting solely of a link: "https://t.co/AXWXkld0LO".

At 23:29 UTC on the same day, Jordan commented on Democratic Party positions with the statement: "Democrats:

“Give illegal aliens healthcare, or we’ll shutdown the government!”".

Jordan has represented Ohio’s 4th District in Congress since succeeding Mike Oxley in 2007 and previously served in both chambers of Ohio's state legislature from 1995 to 2006. He was born in Troy, Ohio in 1964 and currently resides in Urbana. Jordan holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Capital University.
