Rep. Jim Jordan, a U.S. Congressman representing Ohio’s 4th district since 2007, questioned the actions of UK regulators in a series of tweets posted on July 28, 2025. The posts addressed concerns about the application and enforcement of a UK censorship law on non-UK technology companies.
In his first tweet, Jordan wrote: "So why is a UK regulator harassing companies about a UK censorship law that is supposed to apply only to the UK?" (July 28, 2025).
He continued by stating: "That’s right – UK authorities want to “supervis[e]” a non-UK tech company that “does not have a significant number of online users in the UK” and is not targeting the UK market." (July 28, 2025).
Jordan also referenced correspondence with Rumble, an online video platform, noting: "In the same email, it “strongly encourage[d]” Rumble to take censorship steps required by the OSA." (July 28, 2025).
Jim Jordan has served as Ohio's representative in Congress since replacing Mike Oxley in 2007. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of Ohio's state legislature from 1995 through 2006. Born in Troy, Ohio in 1964 and currently residing in Urbana, Jordan holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Capital University.
