State Representative Angie King (R-Celina) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine. The vetoed House Bill 68 aims to protect children experiencing gender dysphoria from undergoing sex change procedures.

The bill specifically targets procedures such as chemical castration through puberty blockers and invasive surgical procedures. Additionally, the legislation includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which seeks to safeguard women's-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.

In a statement regarding her vote, Representative King emphasized the importance of protecting children from making life-altering decisions at a young age. She stated, "The Governor may not have wanted to pass this legislation, but the majority of Ohioans want it. Today, I, along with my colleagues in the House, kept our promise to override the Governor’s veto."

Representative King further highlighted the significance of the bill in ensuring that Ohio becomes a place where children are shielded from potentially harmful surgeries and where women can participate in sports with other biological women.

The passage of House Bill 68 reflects the determination of legislators to address the concerns surrounding gender dysphoria and the impact of medical interventions on young individuals. By overriding the Governor's veto, Ohio lawmakers have responded to the demands of their constituents and taken a firm stance on protecting the well-being of children and preserving the integrity of women's sports.
